"Yellow dichromate plating" composition

2005

Sir,

I am in Spring manufacturing Company. For my automobile customer, I need to submit IMDS for Yellow dichromate. What are the contents in yellow dichromate? How should we check them? What is the estimated % of all these contents? Appreciate your reply ASAP.

THANKS

Hi there,
I would also like to know what is the chemical composition of a Yellow Dichromate Plating. I need to report in IMDS the coating for hardware.

Sorry, but there is no such thing as yellow dichromate plating. There are a broad range of coatings that are produced from a chemistry that includes a dichromate, but we wouldn't be able to answer your question specifically. Your best bet is to contact the company that provided the coating.

Hi, Cristian. As Jon says, there is no such thing. You probably are referring to zinc plating followed by either a trivalent or a hexavalent chromate conversion coating, yellow in color. Again, as John urges, get this information from the applicator, but pay specific attention to whether the conversion coating is a trivalent one as I doubt that any automobile customer in the world will accept hexavalent chromate due to RoHS restrictions. Good luck.
