Electroless Nickel direct seawater application

Whether Electroless nickel or EN-PTFE composite coating can be used for direct seawater application without sacrificial anodes and protective coating. Expecting your valuable suggestions.

EN plate itself will show very little attack when immersed in boiling sea water (less than 1 micron/year according to standarized testing). Although, you will only need a tiny pore, crack, or discontinuity to cancel the afforded protection to less noble metals or alloys such as steel, aluminum, zinc, etc. This could end up in a dismal failure. So, extreme care and consciousness that lab testing is not real life is required before specifying it.

Sorry! Finishing.com is temporarily Read-Only.
Ted Mooney is retiring but I have several offers to take it over.
We're working hard to make sure we find it the best new home.
