Coating materials used on laundry wire hangers

If you have any knowledge on laundry wire hangers coating materials used widely in states (water or oil base ?), they used to be transparant golden look or even milky white, I also need some info on the machine line manufacturer for this process.

I don't have experience in that particular field but, with that disclaimer, I believe that translucent golden look is called a "liquor finish", and is a remnant from the lubricant used in the drawing process.
