Bindery wants to adhere copper sheet to paper

I am preparing to bind an edition of books with copper sheet (.032) as the covers. I have been experimenting with Incralac [on eBay or Amazon] (water based) as an adhesive to join paper to the sheet copper. The success has been moderate. I would like to know if there is a better material for this purpose or a particular way to apply the Incralac [on eBay or Amazon] . I don't want to use something which contains very harmful solvents such as Xylene or toluene. I would appreciate any help.

Maybe I do not understand all of the limitations. Why not use a copper tape. You can have "logs" custom cut to the exact width that will work. I am sure that there is more than one custom masking vendor that will cut it to the exact length and width that you need for a fee. This would be an interlined tape. There are several glue options available. The tape would probably be a little thinner than the 0.031 that you mention, which would make it easier to work with in some ways.

Or you could even get the copper tape die cut to the exact size(s) you need. Most custom converters (such as Viadon, and several others that are supporting advertisers of finishing.com) offer this service.

If you still want to do apply the adhesive yourself, there are a number of unsupported (no carrier film) adhesive transfer tapes (acrylic would likely be a good one) that you could use instead of a liquid adhesive. Hope that helps.
