Home made "hobby" electropolishing of SS 316L

Interested in knowing if there is some sort of "safe" electropolishing process. Need to electropolish SS 316L and have been tempted to try that myself with a sort of a "home made setup". However, I have been warned the process releases toxic fumes which have kept me from trying. Any hints anyone?

You haven't said what you want to electropolish, or why, Ricardo. That makes it very easy for people to say "no, don't do that", while making it impossible for them to say "yes, you can" :-)

My advice would therefore be limited to reminding you that it is usually possible to mechanically polish stainless steel to a mirror finish, and that may be a better idea. Good luck.
