Want dark finish on brass putter

I have an old brass putter. I want to turn it black or dark blue. Is there a way to do it with common household items? or items I can get at Home Depot? thanks a lot.

Hi, Kevin. Brown to dark brown is a possibility with liver of sulfur ⇦ on eBay or Amazon [affil link] . Proprietary brass darkening solution ⇦ on eBay or Amazon [affil link] could get it closer to black. When you are looking for a chemical powerful enough to permanently discolor metal that way, they can be smelly, dangerous, and nasty. Good luck.
