Chrome plating for fire helmet

Hi,

I am a product design student. I am now designing a fire helmet for my class. I want to know if chrome plating on the shell of the helmet will be able to resist heat in the fire because I know that chrome is reflective and it may reflect off heat. Is that true? I also made a model of the helmet. Will chrome plating shop be able to chrome plate 10 lbs. foam?
