Hand brushing aluminum

Is it possible to obtain a brushed aluminum finish by hand and make it look even all over? If yes, what resources are available in getting this info? I will not be applying any clear coat. After brushed it will remain in that finish for the purpose of a "look".

Brushed aluminum finish is created with unidirectional application of sandpaper. Whether it can be uniform is a question of your skill level and the size of the piece. But you do it with one quick "scrittch" not slow sanding.

Aluminum oxidizes and corrodes. If it is neither anodized nor clear coated, nor protected in any other way, you can expect quick discoloration and white pitting corrosion.
