Die cast AL Electrically Isolating finishing

2004

Hi,

I am the designer an electronic product for driving servo motors. The enclosure of this product is die cast aluminum. The power transistors are attached to the enclosure.

I was hopping to do hard anodize as finishing for achieving electrical isolation. The die cast enclosure mast be isolated to signals of 100 Volt. But it seems to be difficult to anodize the die cast aluminum.

I would like your suggestions for the following questions:

1. Can I improve anodizing by selecting a proper material or procedure for the die cast?

2. Is there a proper procedure for anodizing die cast?

3. Is there a different finishing recommended. Something that is easier than anodize, but provide good finishing and proper electrical isolation?

Thanks

If your casting contains more than 7% silicon, you cannot get a proper anodise.
