Matte black interior fireplace paint for wood burning fireplace

I need to paint the inside of a wood burning fireplace. The walls are metal and the paint should be matte black. The current paint has burned off in places with use. What is the appropriate fire-resistant paint for this job and where in NYC can I purchase it?

You need a silicone polyester. We use this for stove pipe and other fireplace applications. I deal with every imaginable type of coating as part of my job but finding retail sources even for me is difficult.

Ed. note: These may not be the silicone polyester paints that Mr. Zeeman recommends but finds hard to source, but they are 1200 deg F flat black paints that may address your need: stove paint [on eBay or Amazon] - or - high temperature paint [affil links]

I sandblast many BBQ pits and wood stoves, clients ask what is the best coating to use after blasting. High temp. paint 1200 deg. eventually burns off. what other options are available to do-selfers.

Nothing is permanent, Paul. And many things are too dangerous and require too much equipment and expertise for average do-it-yourselfers. I have a woodburning stove and we simply paint it every couple of years with high temperature stove paint [on eBay or Amazon] .

I painted the outside of my stove with high heat paint and it looks great. Can I paint the inside as well? I use it for a fire pit outside and want to keep it protected from the moisture.
