What is Edelbrock Perma Star Coating

Can anyone tell me the process that Edelbrock uses to apply their Perma Star coating on their manifolds?

Dear Tim,I do not all the exact details yet, but from what I found online previously, Perma Star is a 2 step powder coating process. That is why if you noticed, all the accessory mounting surfaces are not chromed, that's because they have been taped off before coating, just like painting.

I too am trying to find out the cost, and who can shoot it. I am told by a well known chrome shop in Seattle that there is a shop in Portland, Or., and possibly a shop in California somewhere that is authorized to shoot this product. The manufacturer is very picky about who they let use their product. They will not sell it to the public. I am trying to find out more info so that I can weigh the odds between Perma Star and real chrome as far as pricing goes. As you probably know, the finish is as good, if not better than a lot of chroming I have seen.

I found the website once of the company that makes it, but I had computer problems and lost the info. I am going to try and find it again.

Dear Tim,t he PermaStar finish consists of a three step process; First a powder is applied as a base coat that levels the surface to a glass like finish.Second the substrate is placed into a Physical Vapor Deposition vacuum chamber. In the chamber multiple layers of metals are applied to create a mirror like finish. Finally a clearcoat is applied to protect and seal the finish. PermaStar is a Goodrich Tecnologies development you can go on there website and find a dealer. The dealer in California is Pacific Rims Inc.
