Removing and remaking a layer of flash chrome
My current rubber mould's flash chrome seems wear out... I'm considering removing it & re-coat again...
some questions..
1) What is the process involving in removing the flash chrome? eg. what chemical solution, temp & time of dipping in that solution..
2) What is the process involving in making a new layer of flash chrome? eg. how to coat the chrome, temp & time etc...
3) Any other process is needed after removing the old coat before making the new layer of chrome?

Chrome plating is far more complicated than molding rubber parts, so tell us everything we need to know to successfully mold rubber parts, and then we'll answer :-)
Seriously, Mr. Song, the issues of stripping chrome, etching the substrate, and chrome plating the molds fill good sized books. Further, chrome plating is very highly regulated from health and environmental standpoints, and you simply can't just buy the plating solution and apply it anyway.
But a realistic learning tool would be to insist that the shop who replates the mold for you shows you the process as they do it.
