Paint over spray loss reduction

Dear Sir/ Madam,

We are one among the leading two wheeler manufacturers in INDIA and are producing one million two wheelers / annum. We are having liquid painting systems with electrostatic spray applicator (guns/bells).

The undersigned is the in charge of one paint plant. We would like to know various measures of reducing paint over spray losses. Also would like to know different ways of recycling the overspray paint.

Kindly respond

Tell us what measures you have tried and what successes and failures you have met with, Mr.  Rameshkumar. Your question is a request for a broad and general technology transfer in your direction, rather than a sharing of tips and camaraderie.

It is not you fault personally, but this is the 12th such request for a broad and general technology transfer in your direction that we have printed from your company over the years, and no one from your company has ever assisted any of our other readers by answering even a single question, nor ever responded to our private requests that the questions start with feedback from your own experiences so that our readers could learn something from them.

Using electrostatic spraying with gun and bell considered very good application.Thereotically those method can achieve more than 65% of transfer efficiency.

Maybe you should consider a few factor related to Man and Machine. Please do consider on Skill training, angle of spray, distance from parts being coated and overlapping strokes. On machine factors, try to regulate the air pressure (usually from 6.5 bar to 4.0 bar) and do some adjustment on the paint viscosity, you should try to dilute a little bit more of viscosity to suite with the regulated pressure.

I'm also from two wheelers manufacturing company and involve in transfer efficiency improvement project. The action I proposed having a potential to success,no doubt, this is trial and error experiment.
