Attractive finish for line of flatware?

Looking for an attractive finish for stainless steel flatware. I was thinking of Black Chrome but am interested in any attractive finish that is durable in everyday use and dishwasher safe. Thanks

Instead of a plating, would you consider a surface finish instead? There seems to be a trend toward a satin finish on a lot of stainless steel products. This can be accomplished using mass finishing equipment and a dry organic abrasive mix.

You can consider PVD finishes as a good option. They are available in shades of grey to black, and can produce the black chrome finish you refer to. There are other colors that can be achieved in PVD, such as many shades of brass, gold, bronze, and flashy iridescent finishes too!
