Cleaning discarded lead wheel weights

2004

I want to clean up discarded lead wheel weights which have grease and dirt on them. I thought maybe using Muriatic Acid [affil link] to do this. If not this method, could you please suggest one. I do not know thw chemical reaction between these two materials.

Thanks.

You can use any proprietary solvent based paint stripper(DMF or MEK / methyl ethyl ketone based)!Rinse well!

Good luck!

You could try boiling them in Water, then a Slight Caustic Solution..Skimming the crud off periodically.. I Assume that you are about to start casting bullets or sinkers..

Use them as is for sinkers but look for a mix for bullets, I use a mix of Wheelweights 50-50 solder and some printers metal for Pistol,

Cheers Luke in Oz Look on the Web for Cast Bullet forums and you should find mixes..
