Teflon Coating - Non Stick Specifications

Dear Friends,

We have a typical application requiring a non stick finish for holding and discharging a powder. The powder is hygroscopic in nature. The whole system is under nitrogen atmosphere to prevent powder from absorbing moisture.

The plate is used for collecting the powder on it and discharging to next stage through a jerk and rotation of 90 degrees along a horizontal axis. The plate is like a flapper/lid of box. The lid/flapper as described above needs to be of non stick type.

We got the SS 316 piece coated by a local teflon coating vendor, but with no luck. there are grains(fine) on the surface, where the powder gets stuck.

We need some inputs on how to define the right specifications for the coating so that we can achieve 100 % non stick surface of lid.

My experience with non stick treatments on SS in powderapplications is that we become the best results with electropolishing the ss. First we have the parts mechanically polished up to grid 400 followed by EP. Teflon coatings in powder applications always peel off after a short or longer time.
