Burnishing of weld joints, and effect on strength

Dear Sir/Madam,

I am an engineering student studying in my third year of the course in Hyderabad, India. As a part of my curriculum I happened to study about the process of burnishing in one of our textbooks. An inquisitive mind has made me think if this burnishing process has ever been used on a weld joint. If so could you please let me know the effect it had on the strength of the weld joint. I will be greatly obliged if you put some light on the mentioned situation or at least guide me through some links on the web.

Thanking you and hoping for quick action.
