-----Is powder coating performance better on CRCA than HR sheets
We operate a sheet metal fabrication shop back in India and we are facing some corrosion problems on the powder coated products that we manufacture. The client attributes the problem to the use of HR sheets and want us to use CRCA instead. We believe that the problem does not arise out of the metal being HR or CRCA. Does anyone know whether the use of CRCA instead of HR sheet metal has any effect on corrosion resistance after powder coating.

Dear Mr. Jaiswal,
Whether you use CRCA, or Hot rolled steel, the surface must be suitably phosphated first and then powder coating applied. We do not apply powder on the metal surface but on the phosphate coating. Surface preparation has to be done methodically and then powder applied. The metal, the phosphate coating, and the powder is ONE WHOLE SYSTEM. The powder supplier back home may be of assistance to you in the pretreatment process.
