Grinding a chrome plated roller

We have chrome plated roller in a textile processing machine. We have found number of vertical scratch marks through out the roller. These rollers are hollow and provided with steam to apply a high temperature (about 140-150 C)to the fabric. I need to grind this roller to remove these mark. What is the best method ? What is the suitable grinding wheel for this job?
