Precleaning and degreasing of brass

I am creating a line of antique reproduction lamps and lanterns. Several of the parts are brass and require darkening for the look I am after. I am experimenting with 1) Barium Sulfide 2) ammonium Sulfide 3) ammonia on eBay or Amazon [affil links] Fuming.

I can get a nice color by taking my time and scratch brushing and individually dipping or fuming each piece. But I need to rapidly clean and patina 20 to 30 parts at time. Is anybody aware of a chemical that will accomplish this by simply dipping and rinsing?

I have ordered a copy of "The Colouring, Bronzing & Patination of Metals" [on eBay, Amazon, AbeBooks affil links] , but won't receive it for several days.

Thanx in advance,
