Conversion from mm to microns

I have a drawing calling out for paint thickness in mm (millimeters) however in our shop we go by mil thickness or microns. How do I convert a reading such as .020 mm (millimeters) to mils or microns? Thanks to who ever can help me with this .

A micron is a millionth of a meter where as a millimeter is a thousandth of a meter, so a millimeter is 1000 times bigger than a micron. Just move the decimal point 3 digits to the right.

0.020 mm equals 20 µm (Approx 0.0008"), an easy way to check if your'e more used to working in imperial units is to divide mm by 25.4 (No of µm in 0.001").
