Cleaning Hinges

I need help cleaning the hinges of my door can you tell me what to use to clean them, or how to clean them. I have tried vinegar ⇦ in bulk on eBay or Amazon [affil link] and Brasso ⇦ on eBay or Amazon [affil link] and have had little results. I read a previous post and the hinges are on the door and I am sure I don't have a vibrator. Can you please tell me a fast and effective way to clean this hinges.

They may be brass plated steel with the brass largely worn off, Ben, in which case there is no way to restore them in place. But if you can tell us what they are made of, and what kind of stuff needs cleaning off of them maybe someone can make a useful recommendation.
