Q. Can any of the organic conducting polymers like polyaniline impart any useful, special property other than corrosion resistance to a coating? Please suggest literature sources.
Rahul R. HegishteStudent - Nasik, Maharashtra, India
2004
Polyaniline, like a lot of conducting polymers, has a huge range of potential uses. Whilst they are used for corrosion resistance, they can also help reduce or prevent damage from electrostatic discharges, ionising radiation, etc. Furthermore, they can be used for making batteries, flat screens, electronic newsprint, RFIDs, mobile phone antennae etc etc. One novel use was shown in the last James Bond film, so start there for your literature search, then go on to Chemical Abstracts and any of the better polymer journals.
