Nickel Plating
I'm Hebei, from a quartz crystal manufacture. I have a problem with the Ni/Ag/Ni plating. We plate the blank both sides with 3 layers as Ni/Ag/Ni . It will be baked under 275C for 30 minutes (With N2 in chamber) after epoxy mounting. Then the problem happens: the electrode disappear totally, only left a shadow on the surface. I try to bake for 10 minutes, the I observe that the surface of the Nickel layer change from black to brown (looks like Fe2O3). If I continue to bake and check every 10 minutes, the color will change to white, then finally disappear. And the peeling test is OK before the bake. And most mysterious is the problem only happen on one side. The other side is no problem.
Can anybody provide any advice, thanks!

Dear Heibi,
Baking in between 190 and 205 °C will avoid discoloration after Nickel plating.
