-----Melted threads
We have parts coming back from plating and the threaded holes look the threads melted. Could this be a contamination problem?

What is the base metal? What kind of plating? Is there a heavy heat treat scale on the raw parts? TEll us more.

Are you sure they look melted or were the threads plated together? If the treads were plated together I'd bet they were let in the bath too long. Saw a cross-section and measure the thickness.

My brother once did this to our dentists hand tools which he brought back for Silver plating; and an uncle of mine did this 30 years ago to his school principals bicycles wheel rims! I'm glad I'm not your plater, otherwise over-pickling would be diagnosed as 'running in the family'!
