Removal of Blue Blush deposits

Q. Does anyone know about "BLUE BLUSH" a term used in the powerplant industry.

I am faced with removal of blue blush from gasket surfaces (steel) with a thin deposited layer of blue blush that is very hard to remove by hand with a carborumdum stone.

Any fast way to remove chemically? (Sandblasting, and grinding are NOT acceptable methods to maintain the flatness of the underling steel gasket seat.)

A. Gentleman,

Electrolytic cleaning of the parts in Alkaline cyanide solution will solve your problem.

A. Use of an oxy-acetylene torch will usually pop blue blush right off. Follow that up using a cracking stone.
