HAVE YOU EVER CLEANED RUST WITH CLOROX?

HI. I'M MAGGY AND I WANTED TO KNOW IF ANYONE HAS EVER TRIED TO CLEAN RUST WITH CLOROX AND HOW WELL DID IT WORK? THANKS!

I haven't tried it, and don't intend to. Rust is commonly ferric oxide (note: the iron has been oxidized from an oxidization state of 0 to +3). Chlorox bleach is typically a 5% solution of sodium hypochlorite in water, and is a strong oxidizer. You will probably find that bleach will form more oxidization.

Sorry! Finishing.com is temporarily Read-Only.
Ted Mooney is retiring but I have several offers to take it over.
We're working hard to make sure we find it the best new home.
