Plastics plating

We plate ABS plastic using electroless copper. When we plate large and flat articles we observe things look like scratches and fine pits. When the pits were examined by microscope it appeared black. We appreciate if somebody could advice on that.

Hello, Mr. Khattab. I would suspect the plastic before anything else if the problem is only in areas of large parts because it sounds like the process works otherwise. But try to get a tech service person from your electroless copper supplier to look at it.

You may find "Standards & Guidelines for Electroplated Plastics" useful though. Good luck.
