-----Ways to restore magnesium casting from white corrosion
I am working in process shop helicopter. The main gear box housing of the helicopter was degreased for 5 minutes in tri chloro ethylene. Unfortunately the ethylene was adulterated the casting got corroded. A white powdery layer has formed which is not going even after thorough pressurized water cleaning. After rubbing with emery sheet it is found that nothing has happened to black chromating layer. Kindly suggest ways to recover the casting without affecting the original dimensions.
