-----E-coat on bare steel and weld nuts
We are working with a metallic frame (thickness 0.8 to 2.0 mm, bare steel, weight 9.0 kgs) and this part includes some weld nuts M6. The customer is requesting the part meets NES M 0158 CCT-1 20 cycles and expect no red rust near welding nuts and on edges. According our e-coat supplier the edges are not penalized by any standards, is it true? besides they told us that the corrosion on mating surface between weld nut and panel is not penalized too, but our customer don't think so. Exist a way to protect the edges and mating surfaces between weld nuts and panels from corrosion on bare steel?

I don't know who is your e-coat supplier but I do know that PPG has a special e-coat with edge protection.

Sorry! Finishing.com is temporarily Read-Only.
Ted Mooney is retiring but I have several offers to take it over.
We're working hard to make sure we find it the best new home.
