Mechanical Galvanized Coating Thickness
As an architect I am researching the various kinds of galvanizing that can be applied to nails used in exterior construction. I have inch decimal thickness for electro galvanizing and hot dipped.
I found a reference to mechanical galvanizing of nails as including 7 different thickness with the thickest being 107 [mu]m. I have no idea how to convert this to decimal of an inch. Could someone give me the range of thicknesses in decimal inch form.

I am not positive what '[mu]m' means, but it sounds like microns (sometimes called micrometers), which is abbreviated with the greek letter mu or that letter followed by m--which reads like your '[mu]m' . So that is probably what you are referring to. A meter is 39.4 inches, so a micrometer is 39.4 microinches and 107 micrometers would be .0042". This sounds like a reasonable limiting thickness for mechanical plating / mechanical galvanizing.

Dear MR. Larry,
As someone answered you the conversion is correct, but most exactly .0042126 inches if you are having troubles to convert between measurement units. I hope this helps you.
Thanks.

It is easy 107 micron(meters)divide it by 1000 be convert to 0.107 mm. and divide it by 25.4 mm. (because 1 inch equal 25.4 mm.) the solution is 0.0043 inch or 4.3 mils.
