Every time I polish brass or copper, it comes out beautiful. Then I spray an automotive clear-coat. It says to wait 48 hrs. Then use a rubbing compound [on eBay or Amazon]. I use 1500 grit. Every time I use the compound, the clear coat comes off. The clearcoat looks ok, but it has a texture I want to remove. can anybody give me some pointers on my problem?

Hello, Mark. The short answer is probably that brass requires brass lacquer [on eBay or Amazon] not automotive clearcoat. Good luck.
