Long or Short Profile Anodizing?

We are quoting heatsinks from a manufacturer in China for a US based customer. Our customer is on vacation until Jan. 5th. at which time he is expecting a price. The supplier has come back with a question that has me somewhat baffled. "You want to have a Long Profile Anodizing before secondary machining or a short profile anodizing." If you know what he is talking about I would appreciate an explanation.

Thanks,

Hi Ed. Sorry, the question doesn't make special sense to me, although if we knew the full anodizing spec we might hazard an educated guess.

ED. SOUNDS TO ME THAT CHINA HAS A COMMUNICATION PROBLEM. HAVE YOU TRIED GETTING QUOTES FROM AMERICAN COMPANIES? MANY OF OUR CUSTOMERS TRIED CHINA PRODUCTS ONLY TO COME BACK WITH A SLEW OF QUALITY PROBLEMS. REMEMBER IF YOU RUN INTO A PROBLEM IT MAY TAKE WEEKS OR MONTHS TO RESOLVE. IS IT REALLY WORTH THE POSSIBLE SAVINGS?

Sorry! Finishing.com is temporarily Read-Only.
Ted Mooney is retiring but I have several offers to take it over.
We're working hard to make sure we find it the best new home.
