PASSIVATION OF 201 WIRE RODS
Hello everybody,
I have a problem in passivation of 201 grade wire rods(solution annealed). We are using nitric acid (22%) bath for passivation. But after cleaning using jet water, the wire rods are full of stains. Please advise whether we should use any another chemical bath, if possible give details of any literature. thanks.

We would need more information to determine the cause of the discoloration of the 201 ss rods. There are, however, excellent citric acid based formulations available in India that you can use. We have never seen this kind of problem with 201 using the citric formulations when done correctly.

Contact us if you need to know more about where to get the products. We would be happy also to run a test for you to determine the problem. Good luck!
