What is ANSI #7 for stainless steel
I am looking for the written definition or specification which explains ANSI #7 Metal Finish, specifically for stainless steel. Note: At this time, we're not looking for suppliers of stainless steel, just trying to get handle on this designation.

Bob, you're likely referring to the #7 finish found in
ASTM A480, which says "Has a high degree of reflectivity. It is produced by buffing a finely ground surface, but the grit lines are not removed. It is chiefly used for architectural or ornamental purposes." While
ASTM A480 isn't an ANSI document, A666 is, and it references A480.
ASTM specifications can be found at www.astm.org. Consider buying the volumes rather than the individual specifications, should you need more than one.
