Artist inquiry about gold-plating
I'm writing on behalf of my mother who is a very talented amateur artist. Her sculptures are very beautiful and jewel-like, cast in bronze. Can a small bronze sculpture, say 2X3" or 2X5" be gold-plated at a reasonable cost to enhance its market value? What is the price likely to be? Are there any other interesting, cost-effective alternatives?

They absolutely can be gold electroplated. Just like the Oscar awards and many others. They can be rhodium plated too (brilliant
"white" color in between silver and chrome).

An artist friend of mine experimented with some patinas that enhance the appearance without the cost associated with precious metals. I am not sure what he used, but a good bronze casting facility can give you the rundown on different patinas. Also, art schools can be a good place to go, as the students generally have facilities available that rival the best studios.
