Notches along stainless steel electropolished edges

I have a problem with the electropolishing process of stainless steel(with sulfuric-phosphoric acid as electrolyte): the surface finishing is very good but the edge of the sample is notched. This is happening now after months of good electropolishing results, though nothing has been changed in the process.

Please, if you have any suggestion on the cause or the nature of the problem, please advise.

This condition may be due to the microstructure of the stainless steel. Is the occurrence of the problem related to material lots, that is did the problem start with a new batch of raw material.

Without seeing the notches it is difficult to speculate too much. Metallurgical laboratory evaluation, especially if you have good and bad parts, could be helpful.
