-----Silicon nitride piston
2003
I want to manufacture a small 3.5cc, 2 stroke, internal combustion engine with a new piston material.
1. In your opinion is it better to coat ceramic on the piston or the cylinder liner?
2. How is ceramic coating compared/different to Nikasil coating?
3. Can ceramic material like silicon nitride be coated onto the alloy piston? Or does it have to be machined from a ceramic block? What is the relative production cost?

Cummins-Turbo Diesel coats the piston head...they must know something.

Ted Mooney is retiring but I have several offers to take it over.
We're working hard to make sure we find it the best new home.
