Over painting of new galvanised above ground structures



Client's requirement is to galvanise above ground structural steel and then sweep blast and paint with two pack epoxy paint.Why would this be required ?

There could be several reasons, but it usually relates to esthetics (appearance) or corrosion protection. Galvanizing is a very heavy and corrosion resistant coating, but depending on where it is located it could benefit from additional barrier protection. Most likely the two part epoxy is specified to extend the life of the product that is galvanized.
