Aluminum and silver sputtering

One of the processes I work with is aluminum and silver sputtering, I am learning how to use an automated machine that plates a polycarbon disc with one of the aforementioned metals, I would like however to know more about this process so that my relationship with the machine is not technical but more scientific, I am an engineer and am looking for more sources of information , can anybody help me?

You can find the information that you need from either ASM International or the American Vacuum Society. I believe both have courses available, and ASM certainly offers texts on the subject. Both organizations are on-line: www.avs.org, and www.asm-intl.org.
