-----Distressed finishes
Is there any way to achieve a distressed effect with metal siding that already has a finished color surface?

The paint adhesion on these sidings is excellent. I think there is a good chance that you can distress it without flaking the paint off. Distress a sample as you like then put some clear packaging tape on it and see if the adhesive lifts any of the paint. If it does, it didn't work; if the adhesive doesn't lift any chips off, there is an excellent chance that the paint will stay on indefinitely.
