Abrasive flow and electropolish compatibility problem

2003

We are machining fittings for high purity use in the semiconductor industry. We were hand polishing the internal diameters and then electropolishing with fairly good results.
However, when we replaced the hand polishing with abrasive flow polishing we began having problems with the electropolish results: hazing and fogging with shinny spots showing through.

The abrasive flow improved finish but seems to have an adverse effect on the electropolish.
What is happening?

Jeff,

The siloxane in the abrasive flow, may be the bad guy. Do you know how much pressure abrasive flow uses?

Sorry! Finishing.com is temporarily Read-Only.
Ted Mooney is retiring but I have several offers to take it over.
We're working hard to make sure we find it the best new home.
