Aqua Transfer Printing/Cubic Printing-any info

Q. I too am looking into the process of cubic printing, also know as Aqua transfer. I work for a Rapid Prototyping Service Bureau in Canada, where we take CAD files and output a functioning prototype in a nylon 12 material.

I realize this site is dedicated to metal finishing, but would appreciate your assistance. I see by the comments that it is an expensive process. Does anyone have an approx. dollar amount?
Any idea if this method would work for short runs?

Or maybe it's designed for large production runs only. Can you get the film in generic colors, like black (and the other necessary 'ingredients'/tools) and do short runs?

thanks, Annette

A. The process of cubic printing is also called water transfer printing or in Germany wassertransferdruck. If you look it up at google you will find companies manufacturing this type of machinery.

A. Cubic Printing or Water Transfer Printing can decorate any material as far it is paintable. This technology is being widely used for decorating House hold items, Eye wear, Footwear, Automotive parts.
A variety of metal and non metal part manufacturers use this technology to add aesthetic value and enhance the life of the items thus decorated.
Recently I have come across an Microwave Oven decorated using a Jungle Camouflage pattern not to mention torches, portable music players, Vapourisers for Insect repellents, etc.
The possibilities are endless.
There are various companies supplying the equipment and machinery for the process based in Japan, Taiwan, etc.

All the best.
