Descaling steel

Is there an easy way to descale steel before finishing? I have been grinding or sanding as much off as I can before painting. We are small so cost is a factor.

Hi, J.H.

Can't you buy your steel pickled and oiled? It is cost effective for a mill to pass the steel through a mechanical scale breaker and a pickling tank; but it may not be cost effective to do it yourself.

Thanks for the response, we have the pickled and oiled steel but only in the tube steel not in the angle iron which I use extensively.
