I am year 8 pupil in England and I need a few answer to some questions I am really stuck on first of all: sulfuric acid = iron _____ = ______ + _______? any answers?

Then What makes these salts?

1) Sodium Chloride

2) sulfur nitrate

3) Lead Sulphate

Last of all:

Sodium hydroxide + hydrochloric acid = _______ + ________?

Please help as I need the answers for tonight as it is due in tomorrow,

Firstly, don't leave your homework to the last minute, because by now you will be in trouble with your science teacher! Isn't education a wonderful thing! Now some chemistry. Many metals react with acids to produce hydrogen and the acid salt of the reacting metal. With sulfuric acid, it forms "sulphates"; nitric acid forms "nitrates" and hydrochloric acid forms "chlorides". So, sulfuric acid and iron will produce iron sulphate and hydrogen.

Acids also react with bases (or alkalis) to form salts. Just remember "ACID + ALKALI = SALT + WATER". This should answer your questions on salts, but to start you, sodium chloride (a salt) is made from sodium hydroxide and hydrochloric acid. By the way, sulfur nitrate does not exist and lead sulphat(sic) is made from sulfuric acid and a suitable lead salt, such as lead acetate; many lead salts are insoluble and lead metal does not readily react with acids.
