Preserving polished brass

I have inherited an old brass bed. It was very dirty and tarnished. I used a shellac stripper to cut thru the shellac. Then I used Brasso on eBay or Amazon [affil links] to clean and polish, using 00 steel wool on eBay or Amazon [affil links] . And lots and lots of 'elbow grease.' Now, my question is, do I put any kind of polish, etc. over the brass to help keep it from tarnishing? Thank you, for any info you can give me in regards to this. Helen
