CLEANING ALUMINIUM MOTORCYCLE PARTS

COULD SOMEONE PLEASE ADVISE ON METHODS OF DEGREASING AND CLEANING ALUMINIUM MOTORCYCLE PARTS.

Dear Peter, quite simply, immerse the parts in a kerosene bath overnight. Next day, scrub all over with an old plastic pot washer then pressure hose off.

Not exactly a friendly chemical, but MEK / methyl ethyl ketone is the quickest cutting and fastest drying that I have ever used for this purpose. Many OEM manifolds and valve covers have seen this pretreat technique.

.... this may be a little off the wall, but try boiling the parts in a saucepan with some rhubarb, brings 'em up a treat... something to do with the natural acids?
