Galvanized vs. zinc w/clear chromate finish on CRS part

I would like to know how, on a CRS part, a galvanized finish would compare to a zinc with a clear chromate finish. I understand that the appearance will be different (i.e., galvanized has a dull gray appearance while the zinc with clear chromate will have a 'shinier' appearance) but am mainly concerned with the corrosive protection.

Galvanizing is much thicker than zinc plating (it varies, but something like 5-10X as thick) so it will greatly outperform zinc plating. A third alternative is mechanical plating / mechanical galvanizing, which will be mid-range in thickness.
