Corrosion resistance of zinc phosphate coating to fly ash

Is a zinc phosphate coating over alloy steel base material sufficient to prevent corrosion of the base material in a sulfur laden atmosphere (due to fly ash)?

John C. Folga
power transmission couplings - Erie, Pennsylvania
2003

What unit of time ? hours, days, months or years? What "alloy steel? there are a few hundred. There are several "types" of zinc phosphate and it can be applied in a range of coating weights. Also it can be waxed, oiled or painted. For an uncoated phosphate, the most probable answer is no. For a coated one, anywhere from no to fair. Phosphate and paint is the best answer.

We're working hard to make sure we find it the best new home.
