Geometric Tolerance: flatness 50 micron

2003

I have a machining drawing with geometric tolerancing. One of the "feature control frames" shows a "flatness" tolerance of "50 Mu". It is very likely that the "Mu" is a symbol for a metric evaluation, but I haven't been able to locate this symbol in any text. So, what I am looking for is an explanation of the flat tolerance of "50 Mu".

Cordially,

It seems to be a graphic approximation of the Greek letter "mu" that means millionths. Some programs lack this symbol and the closest is the "u". Then the capital M for meters, for micrometer.

Ted Mooney is retiring but I have several offers to take it over.
We're working hard to make sure we find it the best new home.
